Fourteen Nigerian politicians in Zamfara state have lost their lives following a fatal road accident along Gusau – Zaria road, with many others injured.
According to report some of the politicians were on their way to welcome the Governor at the border between Zamfara and the Katsina States on Wednesday, while the other politicians were allegedly rushing to meet up with the state Governor’s convoy when they collided with a BUA cement trailer.
The report also stated that 14 of the politicians died on the spot, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the incident, saying that those who sustained injuries have been taken to the hospital and responding fine to treatment.
Meanwhile, the state Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has condoled with the families of all the deceased persons who lost their lives in the accident.
The Governor ordered three-day mourning in honor of the departed souls, saying that all flags should fly at half-mast.

The deceased has since been accorded befitting burials attended by hundreds of people.
