A further 457 coronavirus cases and 17 deaths had been recorded over 24 hours in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), announced on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.
According to the agency update via social media, the news cases were all recorded in 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja: 137 in Lagos, 76 in FCT, 40 in Plateau, 35 in Rivers, 34 in Enugu, 25 in Oyo, 23 in Abia, 12 in Delta and 11 each in Edo and Ebonyi, NCDC said.
Ten cases each were confirmed in Cross River and Kwara state followed by Kaduna with nine cases, Anambra with seven, Ogun with five, Three cases were also recorded in Imo, Bauchi while Osun(2), Nasarawa(2), Kano and Ekiti have one each.
Meanwhile, 314 patients, who recovered from the deadly infection were discharged from treatment centers across the country.
Nigeria’s tally of COVID-19 cases reached 44,890, including 927 deaths and 32,165 recoveries, while the country has 11,798 active cases.
