
Adam Rich, 54, who played the youngest son on the iconic family drama series “Eight Is Enough,” has passed away.
According to TMZ, a family member confirmed that the former star had passed away on Saturday at his residence.
Police visited Rich’s residence, according to sources in law enforcement, and discovered him dead.
His cause of death was not disclosed by the family member, but according to police sources, it did not seem to be odd.
Since being hired as Nicholas Bradford in the ABC comedy Eight Is Enough in the late 1970s when he was only eight years old, Adam has been in a number of movies.
The five seasons that the show had on the air were based on the idea of “a family with eight very independent children.”
After the show ended, he went on to star in the one-season series Code Red and work as a voice actor for Dungeons & Dragons. Additionally, He also worked on the 1997 film, The City.
One of the actor’s most recent roles was in the comedy film Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, which was released in 2003. In this role, the actor portrayed himself.
As per TV Line’s report, Adam was also said to have a substance misuse problem, which led to his incarceration in 1991. At the time of his arrest, he had broken the glass of a drugstore in order to steal drugs.
Following the arrest, Dick Van Patten, who appeared in the film Eight Is Enough as his father Tom Bradford, provided the bail money to have him out from jail.
The late actor had enrolled himself into a drug rehabilitation program the next year, in 1992, after he had become addicted to drugs.
Later on, in 2002, he was apparently detained for driving under the influence, although he contested the claims, as reported by CBS News.
When asked about his sobriety at the time, he had said, “I’ve been sober for 10 years.”
