This comes after the BBC reported that the Argentine football legend was scheduled to start treatment for alcohol dependency. Earlier in November, he also had a blood clot removed from his brain.
The Argentine Football Association also confirmed the news through it twitter page, in its tweet;
“La Asociación del Fútbol Argentino, a través de su Presidente Claudio Tapia, manifiesta su más profundo dolor por el fallecimiento de nuestra leyenda, Diego Armando Maradona.” “Siempre estarás en nuestros corazones”
Translation “The Argentine Football Association, through its President Claudio Tapia, expresses its deepest sorrow for the death of our legend, Diego Armando Maradona.” “You will always be in our hearts.”
Before his death, was the coach of Argentine Primera División club Gimnasia de La Plata.
He is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time, and by many as the greatest ever.
