President Muhammadu Buhari has postponed his medical trip to London, hours after an announcement was made by Presidency.
On Thursday, June 24, 2021, Femi Adesina, spokesperson to the President said Buhari would leave Nigeria to London on Friday, June 25 to meet with his doctors for a scheduled medical follow-up.
Adesina, in a statement, said the trip has been postponed and that a new date will be announced soon.
“The medical follow-up visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the United Kingdom earlier scheduled for today, Friday, June 25, 2021, has been postponed,” he said.
The president medical trips have proved controversial in the past, recall that the President left the country for a medical check-up in London earlier in the year, between March 30 and April 16, 2021.
In March, the president went to the UK for what the presidency described as a ‘routine’ check-up.
The trip sparked off a controversy as it coincided with the strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).
