Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care in hospital after his coronavirus symptoms worsened, Downing Street has said.
On Sunday, he was admitted to the hospital for ‘persistent symptoms,’ including high temperature.
A statement by Downing Street said that the prime minister’s condition has worsened and that on the advice of his medical team, he moved to ICU.
“Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
“The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks to all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.”
Also in the statement, the PM has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputize “where necessary”
