A day after it registered a record 148 coronavirus cases in a single day, the number of fresh cases in Nigeria witnessed quite a high cases on Wednesday, with the country registering 195 new cases, taking its overall COVID-19 tally to 3145.
195 new #COVID-19 positive cases & 5 deaths reported in Nigeria today, taking the total number of cases to 3145 and death toll to 103. 53 patients discharged today, while a total of 534 patients have been discharged till date, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said.
According to its Wednesday report, the NCDC said the new cases were recorded in 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Eighty-two of the new cases were confirmed in Lagos, the epicentre of the pandemic in the country, 30 in Kano, 19 in Zamfara, 18 in Sokoto and 10 in Borno state.
Nine new cases were also recorded in Abuja, eight in Oyo, and five cases each in Gombe and Kebbi state.
While Ogun and Katsina recorded four and three cases respectively, Kaduna and Adamawa recorded one case each.
The data from the NCDC shows that Lagos, Kano, and FCT contribute 85 per cent of the reported cases of the infection.
As of 6 May 2020, Lagos coronavirus cases has jumped to 1308, followed by Kano with 427 and federal capital territory (FCT) with 316.
