Coronavirus in Nigeria : With 245 New Cases, Nigeria inches away to 3000 Mark; Tally Reaches 2802

A total of 245 fresh cases of coronavirus were recorded in Nigeria on Monday, taking the country’s overall COVID-19 tally 2802 mark. It also recorded 6 new COVID-19 related deaths, which took its death toll due to the virus to 93.

245 new #COVID19 positive cases recorded in Nigeria today, taking the total number of cases in the country to 2802. Death toll due to Coronavirus stands at 93 in the country, NCDC said.

This, however, was the third consecutive times that the country recorded high number of fresh COVID-19 cases. Though Sunday’s tally was less at 170, it was higher on Saturday-220-and Friday’s tally of a massive 238 confirmed coronavirus cases.

In the last 24 hours, Nigeria saw its largest single-day spike of 245, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 2802, including 417 patients who have recovered, as well as 93 casualties.

According to the new coronavirus update by NCDC, 76 of the new cases were confirmed in Lagos, 37 in Katsina, 32 in Jigawa, 23 in Kano and 19 in FCT.

Borno recorded 18 new cases, followed by Edo with 10 new confirmed cases, 9 in Bauchi, while Adamawa records 6 new COVID-19 cases.

Oyo and Ogun registed 5 new cases each, while Ekiti, Osun, Benue, Niger state, and Zamfara recorded 1 each of the new coronavirus cases.

The total number of cases in Lagos, which is the epicentre of the pandemic in Nigeria has now risen to 1183, followed by Kano with 365 cases and FCT with 297 cases.
