Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy says he won’t star in the fourth installment ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ film until the script is right. A fourth film in the action-comedy franchise is underway with the streaming portal Netflix, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“They’ve been trying to make another’ Beverly Hills Cop ‘for 15 years now. Right now, Netflix has it and they’re trying to develop a script. This is what we are supposed to do next. But I do nothing before the script is ready,” the Coming to America actor, who plays lead actor Axel Foley, told Desus and Mero.
Last May, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, directors of ‘Bad Boys for Life’, gave a promising update on the franchise in an interview with Digital Spy. They explained they are still ironing out the story with a new screenwriter, and also expressed how eager they are to work with Murphy.
El Arbi said: “We are still involved in the project, and there is now a screenwriter who is going to try to write a first draft or at least a first treatment along with the story.
“So we’re going to see what the first version is going to be, but we’re very excited and hope we can do it with another icon like Eddie Murphy. That would be great.”
Adding that he could not wait to work with Murphy. “When I was a kid, it was one of my favorite movies. It was the core film of Jerry Bruckheimer – a humorous action film of a friend. ‘Bad Boys’ is a ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ kind of movie. And of course, Eddie Murphy is an idol,” he said.
