The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, said that the commission is investigating the former Governor of Lagos and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
Bawa made this known in an exclusive interview published by ThisDay on Sunday, June 20, adding that an investigation does not end in a day.
“Investigation is ongoing. When you are investigating matters like this, they don’t end in a day. Thousands of investigations are going on, on a daily basis.”
When asked why Tinubu haven’t been arrested for corruption allegation, Bawa said: “You asked me a question earlier about arresting people before investigation and now you are saying why didn’t we arrest Tinubu?
He also revealed that they have requested for Tinubu’s assets declaration form from when he was the head of Lagos Zonal Office. Adding that the commission won’t engage in media trial.
“You understand? You know you are from the media. After you will say we are doing media trial.”
Tinubu has been accused of controlling the finances of Alpha Beta Consulting and for using the company to divert Lagos State funds.
