The City of Aba in Abia State witnessed it’s own taste of the grievances of the Youths against the ongoing police brutality menace. A lot of young people flocked out in droves to protest the unjust molestation and killings of young Nigerians in the country.
Reports have it that young people are being accosted by members of the Special Anti Robbery Squad known as SARS on suspected fraudulent charges, the said victims claims that the SARS officers allegedly manhandle, molest and extort money from so many irrespective of their innocence. Abians aren’t left out in the saga as some young people like Timiez, Slowtalker songbwoy, Truth Wealth etc vented out their frustration on social media, reporting endless cases of molestation and extortion by SARS operatives.
The recent protests in some parts of the country prompted Abia Youths to flood the streets of Aba to agitate for the closure of the SARS unit. The group led by upcoming celebrities like Formula Dance, Mc Clockwise, Sammy Oranugo etc engaged in a peaceful protest to demand for an end to the current threat.
Speaking to Roundnews24, an embittered young man who spoke in anonymity blamed the SARS officers for the poverty of most people, he claimed that the hard earned money earned by hardworking people legitimately are being surrendered daily to SARS officers leaving them with nothing.
“I no happy with everything wey dey happen, wetin them want from us?, wetin?.
Na bad thing make person wear better cloth?.
As I dey now, I no reach to drive car?.
Why en go be say them just dey collect money from us anyhow?, Now guys no get savings again, if money issue come, we no fit solve am again. All man account dey on Zeros, wetin we do?…
If you talk they go just shoot, dead body no dey write statement.
Abeg, FG dey hear, make them end SARS say we no want, we no want, end am. Today, we go loud am say make them end SARS, enough is enough”.
