President of the marlians gang Naira Marley has issued a warning to the Nigerian police force to carry out his previously planned protest against the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) if proper actions to keep the brutal organization in check isn’t fully implemented.
Social media went agog with the recent killings of Nigerians by SARS. Nigerians took to Twitter to clamour for the shutdown of the violent forces, Many celebrities lent their voices to the struggle in a bid to draw the attention of the federal government to the pressing need of the citizens. Naira Marley took his protest a notch higher as he planned to rally together a group of brave Nigerians to engage in a street protest.
Naira Marley’s project was halted by the Inspector General of Police who pleaded with him to suspend the protest. The force PRO – DCP Frank Mba in a live chat with Naira Marley on Instagram promised to make reforms on the Nigerian police force. He stated clearly that effective immediately, the activities of the Special Anti Robbery Squad has been placed on hold.
The words of the Police general seemed to pacify the protesting groups and so the planned protests were suspended.
Irrespective of the new laws put in place, rumours still have it that some members of SARS have flouted the orders and still engage in molestation of youths in some parts of Lagos and major cities, prompting Naira Marley to make plans to execute his earlier planned protests.
Quote:
“Respect to all the youths out there fighting for their rights and what’s right.
