Football fans responded indifferently to Spanish based football club Fc Barcelona after their attempt to advertise their favourite asset Lionel Messi as the established greatest of all times (G.O.A.T).
The La Liga clubside shared a photo of the six times Balon d’or winner alongside a picture of a goat accompanying it with the caption “Spot the difference”. The photo which was meant to project Lionel Messi as the greatest footballer to ever play the game of football unfortunately was taken literally by some football lovers who expressed their displeasure over the pun intended tweet.
Messi and Barcelona seemed to be back on good terms as the six times Balon d’or winner abolished his intentions of leaving Camp Nou to continue the remainder of his career years elsewhere owing to the inability of the club’s directors to bring back the team into good shape. Messi who initially told the club to terminate his contract finally reaffirmed his commitment to the club once again.
Barcelona took the hyping of the football legend to Twitter, gridding a photo of the Argentine during a training session along with a picture of a goat, the club tried to depict him as The Greatest of all Times. But however, many football fans seems not to be pleased with the advert strategy as they disapproved of the club’s tweet. The comments section was flooded with some fans who felt the comparison was disrespectful to be used for a human, Few opined that the football legend is currently being caged at Barca against his will, Some critics loyal to Lionel Messi’s closest football rival Cristiano Ronaldo took the trolling personal as they made fun of the Argentine legend while extolling their own idol.
