Fulham won the Skybet Championship with a 7-0 victory over Luton Town on Monday, while Aleksandar Mitrovic surpassed the 46-game season goalscoring record.
Serbian attacker Mitrovic was once again the hero of the show, scoring a second-half brace to break the Championship goals record.
The 27-year-old scored his 43rd goal of the season. His second goal of the game, which came after one earlier in the second half, surpassed Guy Whittingham’s 42-goal haul from 1992-93.
Mitrovic’s stunning record comes with one game left. He has scored 12 goals more than the division’s second-leading scorer, British-born Nigerian Dominic Solanke.
Fulham also won the league title. After 29 minutes, Tom Cairney started the score for the home side, which was followed 10 minutes later by a powerful strike by Kenny Tete.
Tom Cairney scored in the 29th minute, and Kenny Tete extended their lead 10 minutes later to put the Champions-elect up 2-0 at the interval.
After the break, Fabio Carvalho made it 3-0 before Mitrovic’s first goal of the game put Fulham up 4-0.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid made it 5-0 before Ivory Coast star Jean Michel Seri made it 6-0 with 10 minutes remaining.
Mitrovic sealed the victory and title with his second and Fulham’s seventh goal of the game in stoppage time.
Fulham will compete in the Premier League next season after gaining promotion at the first attempt after being demoted in the second half of last season.
