Former Chelsea and Ghana attacker Christian Atsu has sadly passed away following the devastating earthquake in Turkey.
Atsu’s whereabouts were unknown after the devistating earthquake that his Southern Turkey on 6 February 2023.
The Ghanaian’s agent Nana Sechere confirmed the player’s passing on Saturday.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well wishers that sadly Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this morning My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support,” the agent said, as per the Mirror.
“I ask that whilst we make the necessary arrangements, that everyone would please respect the privacy of the family during this very difficult time.”
During his time in England, Atsu played for Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Everton.
The attacker was also a standout for Ghana’s national team, as he was named Player of the Tournament in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
