Tiger Woods was involved in a ghastly car accident and had to be cut from his vehicle according to reports from California.
The celebrated golfer is said to have been ‘very fortunate’ to have survived the accident which resulted in a major damage to his vehicle.
Woods was in California reportedly to shoot for a TV programme that also featured former NBA star Dwayne Wade and actor David Spade. He had attended the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera over the weekend and hasn’t played competitive golf in 2021 after having undergone a back surgery in January.
Further claims have it that he would immediately undergo a surgery as the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department described the accident as a “single vehicle roll-over traffic collision” in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California.
“On February 23, 2021, at approximately 7.12 AM, LASD responded to a single vehicle roll-over traffic collision on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes,” Mirror report.
“The vehicle was travelling northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, at Blackhorse Road, when it crashed. The vehicle sustained major damage.”
“The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods.”
“Mr Woods was extricated from the wreck by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries.”
The 45-year-old suffered multiple leg injuries for which he underwent surgeries. As per Gonzalez, he was “calm and lucid” despite being trapped inside the crashed SUV.
The injuries are reportedly not life-threatening. His manager Mark Steinberg has told Golf Digest that the golfer “was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”
