After Kanye West’s first opera Nebuchadnezzar premiered in Los Angeles in November, he has debuted another production in Miami, titled ‘Mary‘.
The opera highlighted music by the Sunday Service choir and was directed by Vanessa Beecroft, who likewise dubbed “Nebuchadnezzar“.
The Mary opera was billed as cooperation between “the Sunday Service collective,” described in the official statement as “a ministry formed in January of 2019,” and Access Opera.
According to tweets from the event, Kanye and others involved in the opera, which took place at Art Basel in Miami on a barge, completely covered in silver, head to toe.

Kanye made the announcement via Twitter on Thursday night, alongside the Bible verses Luke 1:30-31: “And the angel said unto her, ‘Fear not, Mary: ‘For though hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.’”
