Major internet outage hits top websites across the world including, UK govt site


Websites and apps around the world went down Tuesday morning, including government websites such as, e-commerce websites like Target, and media websites like CNN and the New York Times, before it came back online

Also impacted by the widespread incident is music listening service Spotify as well as Amazon, eBay, and Etsy. French website of Le Monde had also gone down.

Reports say the outage was sparked by an issue with a content delivery network (CDN), a system used to host websites and their content on the internet.

However, Fastly, one of the world’s major CDNs, said the problem had been fixed, many sites were still unavailable for users worldwide.

Uk government also confirmed it, said it was looking it issue “We are investigating this as a matter of urgency,” the website’s Twitter account stated.

The Guardian similarly added that “The Guardian’s website and app are currently being affected by a wider internet outage and will be back as soon as possible.”
