The 28-year-old is thought to have clashed with Guardiola in England over his lack of playing time in recent games, having been an unused substitute in City’s last two Premier League games.
During his three and a half years at the Etihad, Cancelo helped the league champions win the title. He joined the Citizens from Juventus in a swap deal that also included Brazilian defender Danilo.
Cancelo has played professionally for Benfica, Valencia, Inter Milan, and Juventus before joining Bayern. Bayern will be his sixth club overall.
