Michael K. Williams, the iconic actor who became a household name playing Omar Little in The Wire, has passed away.
He was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment on Monday, September 6, 2021, at age 54, New York Post reported.
The cause die has not to reported however, an unknown source told the post that “Williams was found dead of a suspected heroin overdose” when he was found “with what appeared to be heroin on the kitchen table.”
Born in Brooklyn on Nov. 22, 1966, the actor famous for his role on ‘The Wire’ starred in numerous movies as well as other cable TV dramas, such as “Boardwalk Empire,” in which he portrayed gangster Chalky White on HBO. Williams also received critical acclaim for his role in HBO’s recent sci-fi series, “Lovecraft County.”

Willams According to his IMDB page has been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards and “Boardwalk Empire” won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Tributes poured in on social media following the news of Williams’ death. He will be missed.
