Nigeria record six new death and 423 new cases

The total number of deaths in Nigeria due to novel coronavirus inches away to 1,000-mark on Tuesday, with six patients succumbing to the infection on the day. The death toll in the state due to COVID-19 hence stands at 956.

Also, Nigeria today being 11th, August 2020 recorded 423 new cases of coronavirus, taking the country’s overall COVID-19 tally to 47290. On Sunday and Monday, it had recorded spikes of 437 and 290 respectively.

Announcing today COVID-19 cases in the country, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), said that the new cases are from 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Lagos which is the country most-hit state once as usual recorded the highest number of cases with 117 new cases taking the state overall to 16,074, followed by the country Capital Territory, Abuja which is the second most-hit state with 40 new cases and the overall in the capital now state at 4,525cases.

Also on Tuesday, there were a total of 263 recoveries in Nigeria, taking the total number of those who have recovered to 33609. The total number of active cases, meanwhile, stands at 12,725.
