With 637 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, Nigeria’s total tally of COVID-19 cases has increased to 188,880, while the active cases rose to 17,210, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) data updated for Wednesday 25th. The death toll climbed to 2,281 with seven fresh fatalities, according to the data.
Its update also shows the covid cases were recorded in 18 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
Lagos, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, recorded the highest cases with 322, followed by Rivers with 70, and Edo with 54.
Other states that recorded positive cases are Delta (34), Akwa Ibom (31), Kwara (31), FCT (29), Ekiti (17), Ogun (14), Osun (10), Kebbi (8), Cross River (5), Plateau (3), Taraba (3), Kaduna (2), Bayelsa (2), Benue (1), Enugu (1), and Kano (1).
The agency said 347 persons were discharged on Wednesday after recovering from the infection. The total number of people who have recuperated from the disease is 169,382.
