Nigeria on Friday, July 24, 2020, inch away from the 40,000 coronavirus case-mark after a yet another case recorded across the country, 591 new cases to be precise, which took the overall tally to 39,539. Also, on the day, 12 deaths took place and 498 patients were discharged after recovering from the disease.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the new cases were detected in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in the latest data released by the commission, the total number of positive cases in Oyo, meanwhile, rose to 2497 after 191 new cases were registered.
Lagos continues to be the worst-hit state after the nation’s financial capital reported 168 new cases on Friday, which took its tally to 14,177.
Abuja, which also has the second-highest number of cases registered 63 new cases, pushing the country’s capital confirmed cases to 3437, 29 new cases were also recorded in Ondo, while 26 in Osun, 24 in Ebonyi, 23 in Edo, 14 in Ogun, 13 in Rivers, 12 in Akwa Ibom and 10 in Kaduna.
Katsina and Borno recorded six and four cases respectively, three cases each were detected in Delta, Imo and Ekiti, and one case in Niger state.
