Nigeria Records Biggest Daily Increase in Infections as Coronavirus Case Tally close to 6000

Nigeria on Sunday recorded the highest single-day spike of 338 #COVID-19 cases and 6 more deaths, including 177 from worst-hit Lagos, taking the overall case count to 5959 and the number of fatalities to 182, according to NCDC.

A total of 122 patients were discharged from hospitals earlier in the day, taking the number of the recovered cases to 1594 so far. However, the country now has a total of 4,183 active cases.

The NCDC in its daily update on said the new cases were confirmed in 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Of the 338 fresh cases, 177 were reported from Lagos, 64 from Kano, 21 from FCT, 16 from Rivers state, Plateau, Oyo and Katsina reported 14,11,9 respectively.

Four each from Jigawa and Kaduna, three each from Abia, Bauchi, Borno while Gombe, Akwa Ibom, Delta registered two cases each and Ondo, Kebbi, Sokoto added One case each to its existing number of cases.

Among the total COVID-19 cases Lagos the must-hit state alone accounts for 2550 patients.

Kano, another coronavirus hotspot, has so far reported 825 coronavirus positive cases, followed by the federal capital territory (Abuja) with 418 total number of infection.
