Nigeria have picked the ticket for the next year’s AFCON in Cameroon after Sierra Leone were held to a goalless draw by Lesotho in Maseru on Saturday afternoon
The Eagles, who are set to clash with the Squirrels of Benin Republic by 5 pm today evening at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto Novo, had needed just a point from their final two qualifiers to book a spot in the continent’s tournament.
However, the 0-0 draw in Maseru handed them a reprieve even without playing.
Nigeria who lead the group with eight points and with two games to spare will now tackle the Squirrels of Benin for pride.
Benin will go into their game against Nigeria in second position with seven points and will need, at least, a draw to also book thier place in the biennal tournament.
Sierra Leone are third with four points, but with just one game to spare, while Lesotho are rock bottom of the group with just three points.
The super Eagles will take on the Crocodiles of Lesotho on Tuesday at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos.
