Nigeria sees a sharp rise in daily Covid-19 cases, over 300 cases were from Lagos


Nigeria on Tuesday reported 404 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, while no death was recorded, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control data published on its official website on Wednesday. Nigeria’s active caseload now stands at 4,747.

The health agency, in an update of July 27, 2021, said the new cases were reported in 11 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
Out of the majority of the cases were registered in Lagos the country’s worst-hit state with 356 cases, followed by Rivers with 18 cases, FCT with 7 cases, while Ekiti and Kaduna logged 5 cases each

Other states are Gombe, Kano with three cases each, followed by Edo, Ogun with two cases each. also, one each was registered in Bayelsa, Plateau, and Nasarawa.

Meanwhile, a total of 39 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 164,847 in the country. India since the deadly infection break out has confirmed a total of 171,728 cases. Number the fatality toll at 2,134.
