Nigeria’s Coronavirus Tally Crosses 5000-mark; with 193 new cases reported

The nationwide tally for positive cases of coronavirus on Thursday crossed the 5000-mark, total tally now stands at 5162, according to the Nigeria centre for disease control (NCDC) report.

The COVID-19 death toll rose to 167 with an increase of 3 deaths and 193 cases have been registered in the last 24 hours.

Lagos, the country’s economic capital, witnessed fifty-eight cases of COVID-19, taking the total number to 2099, followed by Kano the second must-hit state with fourty-six new cases registered on Thursday, 14th. Total tally in kano now stand at 753.

In Jigawa and Yobe, on the other hand, COVID-19 patients increased by 35 and 12 respectively in a single day, while the county’s capital Territory witness nine infection followed by Ogun with seven cases.

Plateau and Gombe had five new cases each, four cases were recorded in Imo state while three new cases each were discovered in Edo, Kwara and Borno state. One case each was recorded in Bauchi, Nasarawa and Ondo.

As the country surpass 5000-mark, the total of 10 patients was discharged from hospitals, taking the total number of recovered patients to 1080, while active cases now stand at 3815.
