Nzeribe had been severely ill and in a wheelchair for months. In 2017, a photo of him, surrounded by doctors, went viral.

He was born on November 2, 1938. In his twenties, Nzeribe struck it rich, rising to become a major player in the country’s financial sector.

Providence smiled upon him, and he rose to become one of the most prominent and important figures in Nigeria’s political scene.

In 1999, he was elected to the Senate to represent the Orlu region.
