President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, following an investigation into mismanagement and corruption allegations.
In a statement signed by Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, on Thursday, saying that “Buhari has approved the recommendation of the Ministry of Transportation under Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi to set up an administrative panel of inquiry to investigate the Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.”
The stateemnt of mention Mohammed Koko, to act in full capcity while the investigation is been carried out.
“The president has also approved that the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman step aside while the investigation is carried out. Mr. Mohammed Koko will act in that position.
“The panel is to be headed by the director of maritime services in the ministry while the deputy director of legal in the same ministry will serve as secretary. “Other members of the panel will be appointed by the minister,” The statement reads.
Hadiza Bala Usman was first appointed Managing Director of the NPA in 2016, however, In January she was reappointed into the position.
