Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is close to becoming the new head coach of the Austria team.
The Athletic reports that Rangnick has been in talks about becoming Austria’s manager and the two parties are said to be close to striking a deal.
The online outline added that the announcement could be made on Friday, the day after Man United hosted Chelsea in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
A report from Daily Mail said that Rangnick would not take up his consultancy role with the Red Devils should he accept Austria’s offer.

However, multiple reports suggested that this was not the case and that Rangnick would most likely continue to work for Man United as a consultant.
Man United appointed Rangnick as their interim manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking in December. The German is expected to step down from the role at the end of the season as per his agreement.
The German is expected to join United as a consultant at the conclusion of the season, although it’s unclear how the role will coincide with his imminent appointment as Austria coach.
Meanwhile, Manchester United has named Erik ten Hag as their new permanent manager, with the current Ajax coach will take up the role in the summer.
