Days after Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, a musician in the Kano state was sentenced to death by hanging for blasphemy, another man, Mati Abdu has also got the same faith after a sharia court sitting in the state sentenced him to death by stoning.
According to multiple media reports, the 60-year-old Mati Abdu man is said to have raped a 12-year-old girl in 2019 at Farsa village in Tsanyawa local government area of the state.
The presiding Judge of the upper sharia court situated at Kofar Kudu, Ibrahim Yola, handed the death sentence to Abdu on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
Speaking to pressmen on Wednesday, Baba Jibo, public relations officer of the court said the prosecuting counsel tendered all the evidence before the court and the convict confessed to committing the crime.
