US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday evening, defying China’s increasingly harsh warnings that have heightened tensions between the world’s two superpowers.
Live television images showed the 82-year-old lawmaker, who arrived at Taipei’s Songshan Airport on a US military plane, being greeted by Taiwan’s foreign minister, Joseph Wu.
