Super eagles Striker Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of Napoli’s Serie A games against Cagliari on Sunday and Spezia on Wednesday after tests revealed he was positive for coronavirus.
Napoli announced via Twitter that the Nigerian striker was subjected to the mandatory COVID-19 PCR test when he arrived in Naples on thursday in preparation for Sunday’s clash, the test results which was released on Friday confirmed Victor Osimhen to be positive.

“Osimhen tested positive for the molecular naso-pharyngeum swab on his return from abroad on Thursday. The player is asymptomatic and has not met the team group,”
Victor Osimhen suffered a shoulder injury during the Super Eagle’s 4-4 draw against Sierra Leone on November in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier held in Benin City. The injury had pushed him out of action for the remainder of 2020, sidelining him to the bench.
Victor Osimhen has made six appearances for Napoli, scoring only two goals since he joined the club during the summer transfer.
His last appearance for the Italian side was in November, when he scored the decisive goal in his side’s 1-0 win against Bologna.
