The top-earning athletes in the world in 2022 have been revealed, and there’s a new star at the top of the list.
Topping a new list compiled by Sportico. Over the past 12 months, James has surpassed two of the greatest players in football history, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, to top the list in terms of salary, prize money, and endorsements.
37-year-old Lebron James replaced MMA fighter Connor McGregor and is the lone American in the top five.
James is reportedly earning a total of $126.9 million, as his salary is $36.9m and he is getting another $90m from endorsements. Meanwhile, Messi earns $122m, and Ronaldo $115m in 2022.
Canelo Alvarez is the best-paid boxer with $89 million, while Roger Federer is the top paid tennis star with $85.7 million, and Tiger Woods ($73.5m) this year.
