Operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested three more suspects allegedly linked to the kidnapping of Samuel Okunsebor, a dean at Nasarawa State University.
The suspects were arrested on Friday night at a local brothel in Mararaban Akunza, along the Lafia-Makurdi highway, according to a security source.
Okunsebor was rescued by DSS operatives two days after gunmen abducted him at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas.
Two suspects, including a woman, were previously arrested during the operation that led to the professor’s rescue.
The latest suspects were identified as 25-year-old Yakubu Abubakar, also known as Black or Starboy, 37-year-old Usman Abubakar Mairiga, and 27-year-old Sale Babauro Abubakar.
According to the source, Mairiga is Hausa, while Abubakar is Fulani. Yakubu Abubakar was said to be from the Doemak tribe in Plateau State.
The three suspects are currently being held by the DSS state command as investigations into the kidnapping continue.
The source said their detention was carried out under a valid warrant issued by a magistrate’s court.
