Juventus finds itself embroiled in yet another off-field battle, this time involving Italian star Leonardo Bonucci, who is set to take legal action against the club
The saga began towards the end of July when Bonucci received the startling news that he was no longer part of Juventus’ future plans. This revelation was followed by his conspicuous absence from the squad’s pre-season trip to the United States, leaving Bonucci feeling isolated and abandoned.
Despite his representatives’ efforts to find the reasons for his unexpected expulsion, Juventus remained tight-lipped, providing no explanation for their decision. As a result, the 36-year-old defender, who joined Germany’s Union Berlin on September 1st, has engaged legal counsel, with well known lawyers Antonio Conte and Gabriele Zuccheretti heading the battle, as reported by Sky Italia.
As per to the Aftermention outlet report, Bonucci and his legal team are seeking compensation for what they believe are losses caused by poor training and preparation conditions, which they claim have resulted in serious setbacks in his professional career and image.
Bonucci is said to feel that his choice to seek the legal way is not motivated by a “personal war,” but rather by principle.
The football player allegedly lost access to the club’s gym, swimming pool, and restaurant after learning he was no longer a part of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans.
Additionally, it is said that he was told to practice just in the nights, at a separate time than his other first team teammates.
Even though the veteran defender still had a year remaining on his contract in Turin at the time, Juve’s decision to leave him out of their preseason squad is believed to have been perceived by him as a “premeditated” ploy to get him to leave.
According to reports, Bonucci plans to give any money gained in the case to the nonprofit organizations Neuroland and Live Onlus.
These developments come on the heels of another major setback for Juventus, with star midfielder Paul Pogba provisionally suspended following a failed drug test. Pogba now faces the daunting prospect of a potential four-year ban from the sport.
