Hunter Biden Reveals Joe Biden’s Cancer Has Spread

Former US President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread to his bones and is causing him significant pain, his son Hunter Biden has revealed.

Hunter made the disclosure during an emotional interview with the BBC, describing his father’s condition as difficult and heartbreaking for the family.

“The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further,” Hunter said, describing the illness as “very painful” and “very debilitating in many respects.”

Biden, 83, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May 2025 after doctors discovered a prostate nodule following increasing urinary symptoms.

His personal office said at the time that the cancer had already spread to his bones and had a Gleason score of 9, placing it in the highest-grade group for prostate cancer. Doctors also said the cancer appeared to be hormone-sensitive, allowing for treatment and management options.

Hunter said watching his father deal with the disease has been particularly difficult because Biden remains an important figure within their family.

He also expressed frustration that his father does not complain more openly about the pain he is experiencing, saying it is difficult to watch him go through the illness.

Biden has continued to make occasional public appearances despite his health challenges. His family has also provided periodic updates about his treatment and condition.

The former president’s battle with cancer has a deeply personal dimension for the Biden family. His eldest son, Beau Biden, died from brain cancer in 2015 at the age of 46.

Biden launched the Cancer Moonshot initiative partly in response to his son’s death, seeking to accelerate cancer research and improve outcomes for patients.

Hunter’s latest comments provide one of the clearest public accounts yet of the former president’s current health, while the family continues to navigate his treatment and the progression of the disease.
