American singer Chris Brown has filed a $500 million defamation lawsuit against Warner Bros. Discovery and Ample Entertainment, alleging that the docuseries “Chris Brown: A History of Violence” falsely portrays him as a “serial rapist and sexual abuser.”
The lawsuit, submitted on January 21, 2025, in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims the October 2024 docuseries includes discredited allegations, notably from a woman identified as Jane Doe, who accused Brown of rape in 2020. Brown’s legal team asserts that this individual’s prior lawsuit was dismissed due to lack of credibility.
Brown acknowledges past legal issues, including a 2009 felony assault charge involving then-girlfriend Rihanna, but says his efforts toward personal growth since that incident. He contends that the documentary disregards this progress, instead focusing on unverified claims that have harmed his reputation and career.
The lawsuit seeks $500 million in damages, with Brown expressing intent to donate a portion to survivors of sexual abuse if he prevails. As of now, Warner Bros. Discovery and Ample Entertainment have not publicly responded to the allegations.
