Japanese actress, singer, and anime star Sayaka Kanda was found dead on Saturday, She was 35, a statement on her website confirmed.
She was the voice behind Anna in the Japanese-dubbed version of Disney’s ‘Frozen,’ she was also well known for her voice dubbing roles such as Idoly Pride.
According to Kyodo News, Sayaka—the daughter of actor Masaki Kanda and singer Seiko Matsuda—was found unconscious on Saturday, Dec. 18, “lying in an outdoor space on the 14th floor of the 22-story hotel” she was staying at in northern Japan. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. An investigation into the actress’ death is ongoing.
Police are reportedly investigating the case as probably suicide, but foul play has not been ruled out.
She was also currently performing on-stage in the musical My Fair Lady and was set to appear in a stage musical adaptation of popular manga and anime franchise Galaxy Express 999.
In her last post to Instagram on Nov. 17, Sayaka can be seen in costume for the production.
The actress has done numerous voice-over roles over the years, working on the TV series Convenience Store Boy Friends and Star Blazers 2202.
