Newly released documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files have drawn attention after an email mentioned Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates in a series of unverified allegations.
The claims appear in screenshots of alleged self-emails attributed to Epstein, dated 2013, which surfaced among hundreds of thousands of documents released Friday by the US Justice Department.
In the email, Epstein allegedly accused Gates of contracting a sexually transmitted disease from “Russian girls” and requesting antibiotics to secretly give to his then wife, Melinda Gates.
The allegations have not been verified and remain heavily disputed. There is no evidence supporting the claims, and Gates has previously denied any wrongdoing.
According to the documents, Epstein wrote the message to himself on July 18, 2013, expressing anger over what he described as Gates ending their relationship. The US Sun first reported the content of the email.
In one passage, Epstein allegedly wrote: “TO add insult to the injury you them (sic) implore me to please delete the emails regarding your std, your request that I provide you antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give to Melinda and the description of your *.”
Earlier in the same email, Epstein claimed he was caught in a marital dispute involving Gates and Melinda, and alleged he had been asked to take part in actions he described as ethically and morally inappropriate.
Gates has previously said he regretted ever associating with Epstein, who died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.
The newly released files also include undated photographs showing Epstein and Gates together at various locations. In one image, Gates appears smiling beside a woman whose face was redacted.
Gates and Melinda were married from 1994 until their divorce in 2021. Melinda Gates has said Gates’s extramarital affairs and his association with Epstein contributed to the end of their marriage.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Melinda Gates hired divorce lawyers in 2019 following concerns about Gates’s alleged dealings with Epstein, though no criminal accusations have been made against him.
