American rapper, Jay Z has officially become the most nominated artiste in Grammy awards history.
The 51-year-old rapper is now the most Grammy-nominated artist ever, with a total of 83 nominations and with 23 wins overall, as of Tuesday, November 23 with the announcement of the 2022 Grammys nominees.
Jay Z surpassed legendary producer/composer Quincy who he perviouly tied with 80 nods.
For Grammys 2022, Jay-Z got one for Album of the Year for Kanye West’s Donda and two in the Best Rap Song category, for DMX’s “Bath Salts” and Kanye West’s “Jail”.
Paul McCartney is behind him now with 81 nominations after he got an additional two for 2022 as well, followed by Jones who still stand at 80 nods and Beyoncé 79, while Stevie Wonder and late classical conductor Georg Solti, tied with 74; and film-music composers Henry Mancini and John Williams, tied with 72.
Beyoncé, last year made history, becoming the most-nominated woman and most-awarded singer in the award show’s history.
