Kano State has sent a high-powered team to Edo State to look into the deadly attacks in Uromi.
The group, led by Kano’s deputy governor, Aminu Gwarzo, is on a week-long peace and investigation mission.
This move comes after widespread anger over the recent killings that left several dead and many displaced.
Some of the victims were Kano indigenes, prompting Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to form a special committee.
The team includes top officials—like the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Mohammad Isa Umar, and key commissioners.
Before departing from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on Thursday, Gwarzo spoke about the mission’s purpose.
He said the team isn’t just there to gather facts, but to help calm tensions and prevent more violence.
“Our goal is to listen, learn, and help rebuild peace. We want long-term solutions, not just quick fixes,” he said.
During the visit, they’ll meet with Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, security heads, and community leaders.
They also plan to talk with traditional rulers and civil society groups to understand the situation from all angles.
Tensions remain high in Uromi since the attacks last month, and many are hoping this mission will bring calm.
