According to statistics from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 766 cases of coronavirus were recorded in Nigeria on Sunday morning, as the country continues to confront an increasing number of illnesses.
The NCDC data for Saturday reveals that new Covid cases have been reported in 12 states and the federal capital area (FCT).
Lagos had 261 confirmed infections; Anambra had 208 positive tests, followed by Rivers, which had 159 new cases.
Kaduna (42), Gombe (25), FCT (20), Osun (19), Oyo (14), Bauchi (5), Kano (5), Ekiti (4), Ebonyi (2), and Ogun also reported new illnesses (2).
NCDC, however, stated that the recorded cases include a backlog of cases from Anambra and Kaduna states.
On Saturday, one person died as a result of COVID-19 complications, increasing the total number of fatalities in the country to 3,071.
It also added that 595 people have recovered from the dangerous sickness, with a backlog of 95 Kaduna state patients and 27 Anambra state patients.
Since it was first discovered on February 27, 2020, a total of 247,775 COVID-19 infections have been confirmed. A total of 218,427 people have been released, with 26,277 cases still active.
