Intel Reshuffles Leadership as Michelle Johnston Holthaus Exits

Intel has announced major leadership changes as CEO Lip-Bu Tan pushes to restructure the struggling chipmaker.

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, head of products, will leave after more than 30 years with the company. She previously served in multiple senior roles, including interim co-CEO after Pat Gelsinger’s exit last year. Holthaus will stay on as a strategic adviser for a short period.

The shake-up, as per the report by Reuters, comes as Tan works to flatten Intel’s leadership structure and cut jobs to speed up decision-making.

The timing is sensitive. President Donald Trump recently said the US government would take a 10 percent stake in Intel and called for Tan’s resignation over alleged conflicts of interest.

Intel also confirmed the appointment of Kevork Kechichian as executive vice president and head of the data center group. Kechichian is a veteran of Arm, NXP, and Qualcomm.

Other changes include the creation of a central engineering group led by Srinivasan Iyengar, who will also build a new custom silicon business for external clients.

Naga Chandrasekaran will expand his role to oversee both technology and operations as well as Intel Foundry Services. Jim Johnson will take charge of the client computing group.
