Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, has said that she disliked having to share family photos with British media outlets whose readers referred to her children as “N-word.”
In an exclusive interview with The Cut on Monday, August 29, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that although she was supposed to provide photos of her now 3-year-old son, Archie, to the Royal Rota, the press pool covering Queen Elizabeth II and her line of succession, she did not.
“There’s literally a structure. Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?” she said.
“You tell me how that makes sense and then I’ll play that game.”
Markle stated that the @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account that she and Prince Harry previously shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton was not under their direct control.
Markle and the prince, 37, instead shared pictures online without first letting the Royal Rota see them.
As you may remember, Prince Harry and his bride, Markle, startled the world in January 2020 by announcing that they would be stepping down from their positions as senior members of the royal family.
When the couple stepped down from their royal duties—which they formally left in February 2021—they locked down their accounts, but Markle foreshadowed her forthcoming Instagram comeback in the interview with the New York magazine spinoff.
