Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is said to be developing a new feature that would enable desktop beta users to report status updates.
According to WABetaInfo, the new feature will enable users to report status updates directly via a new menu under the status area.
With the new feature, users will be able to notify the moderation team about any suspicious status updates that may violate the Terms of Service.
Similar to the reporting messages, the status update will be given to the firm for moderation purposes in order for them to determine whether there has been a violation.
Despite this, this functionality does not impact end-to-end encryption.
Meta and WhatsApp do not have access to users’ messages or calls, but it is nevertheless vital for the firm to have a reporting feature for everyone’s safety.
WhatsApp Desktop beta will soon get an upgrade that adds the option to report status updates, per the report.
Meanwhile, the messaging platform released a new feature last month that lets desktop users view profile images inside group chats.
