Noah Centineo is back with more action, intrigue, and comedy as Netflix’s hit spy drama, The Recruit, returns for a second season.
Centineo reprises his role as rookie CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks, whose world turns upside down when an Eastern European asset threatens to expose classified information. As secrets unravel, Hendricks finds himself entangled in international espionage, risking everything to stay alive.
A Thrilling Continuation
The first season, which debuted in 2022 with eight episodes, ended on a nail-biting cliffhanger, leaving Hendricks and Max Meladze (Laura Haddock) in grave danger. Now, Season 2—premiering on Jan. 30—follows Hendricks on a high-stakes mission in South Korea, where he quickly realizes the biggest threat may come from within the CIA itself.
Adding to the excitement, South Korean actor Teo Yoo joins the cast as Jang Kyun, introducing a new layer of intrigue to the unfolding drama.
Centineo Balances Acting and Producing
Alongside starring in The Recruit, Centineo also serves as an executive producer. In a recent interview with Good Morning America, he reflected on the challenges of juggling both roles.
“There’s an added responsibility,” Centineo explained. “I feel obligated to ensure everyone on set has what they need to do their best work.”
The show’s creator, Alexi Hawley, worked closely with Centineo, who took an active role behind the scenes.
Filming in South Korea
For Season 2, production took Centineo and the crew to South Korea, where he was captivated by the country’s vibrant energy.
“Adjusting to the time zone was tough, but the crews were incredible—hardworking, young, and passionate. The locations were stunning, naturally cinematic with bright lights reflecting off the buildings,” he shared.
Beyond the scenic filming locations, the cast also had an exclusive opportunity to visit CIA headquarters. “We met with analysts and lawyers to gain insight into the real work behind intelligence operations,” Centineo revealed. “We even shot a scene at the actual CIA headquarters.”
A New Dynamic with Teo Yoo
Yoo, who plays a South Korean intelligence agent, described how he prepared for his role.
“I created a full backstory for my character and researched intelligence operations. Having access to the real-life inspiration behind Owen Hendricks also helped refine my portrayal,” Yoo explained.
Reflecting on his chemistry with Centineo, Yoo noted that their connection was immediate.
“During my audition, I could already tell there was something special between us on-screen. When I joined the set, I was amazed by Noah’s leadership and the supportive environment he created. It was a truly wholesome experience.”
Looking Ahead: Will There Be a Season 3?
As The Recruit returns, Centineo hopes the series will continue beyond its sophomore season.
“We put everything into this season. Nothing is guaranteed, but if fans love it, maybe we’ll get a third season. I know we’d love to do it,” he shared.
