Social media influencer Zataarra has disclosed her opinions that Starboy Entertainment boss Wizkid Ayo Balogun isn’t entitled to any award for the year 2020 for underperforming.
Sharing her thoughts on her twitter page, Zataarra argued that the Nigerian most celebrated international act failed to deliver despite raising the expectations of music lovers with all his hype. She described Wizkid’s Made In Lagos Album as an incompetent project which according to her is made up of same lyrics with just different sounds.
“Wizkid does not deserve any award this year, after all the hype he dropped a wack album with same lyrics different sound. They should just give him a silver medal for his YouTube live.”
Wizkid released his much anticipated album titled “Made In Lagos” on 30th October 2020. Within one week of release, Made in Lagos broke several African streaming records.
It became the first African album to debut on the Spotify Global Album chart, and within the top ten at that. The album surpassed 100 million streams across five platforms nine days after release, a huge milestone for an Afrobeats artist.
It debuted at no. 15 on the UK Albums Chart with over 4,100 album-equivalent units and no. 80 on the US Billboard 200 with over 10,000 album-equivalent units. Ginger became the only charting single off the album in the first week of release, peaking at no. 67 on the UK Singles Chart.
Wizkid has been nominated for Best African Act in MOBO Awards. Also gained a Grammy nomination in Best Music Video category with his Brown skin girl collaboration with Beyonce. Wizkid also received Six Headies nominations for Best pop single, Song of the year, Best Music Video, Best Collabo, Artiste of the year and Headies viewers choice.
So far “Made in Lagos” hasn’t gotten any nominations so far.
