Erling Haaland’s goal on Saturday night created an astounding new record, despite the fact that Manchester City lost ground in the Premier league battle.
Following their 1-1 draw at the Etihad with Everton, the Citizens will start the new year seven points behind the league’s toppers.
Haaland scored the first goal for the reigning league winners in the 24th minute, bringing his total for the season to 21 league goals.
The Norwegian currently owns the record for most goals scored before the new year in a single Premier League campaign.

The game did not go as planned for the Norwegian striker, but manager Pep Guardiola revealed he warned the player not to get sent off as the game got feisty.
“It was a (deserved) yellow card for Haaland. He was a bit angry for the first action on his ankle (by Godfrey). I told him to be careful because we can’t play 10 against 11 and he reacted well,” Guardiola said, as per the Mirror.
“I don’t want a relationship with the referees. I don’t want to be there in the meetings. I don’t care. They do their job, it is fine.”
