FC Barcelona’s captain Lionel Messi has returned to the training grounds ahead of next football season. The six-times Balon D’or winner was sighted training with the rest of Barca squad in preparation for the new oncoming football season.
Messi had previously stated his intentions to exit Camp Nou at the end of the 2019/2020 season following a very disappointing season which saw them end their campaign without a trophy.
The last straw being the humiliating 8-2 defeat to the Bundesliga and subsequent UCL winners Bayern Munich. Messi decided that it was time to leave the club, alerting the board of his intention to terminate the remainder of his contract. But his request was met with an emphatic non-affirmative response from the club which insisted that he’s permitted to leave for a legal fee of €700 Million buy-out clause.
Barcelona’s reply was backed up by the Spanish football governing body, making it more difficult for Leo to pack his bags. In addition, a lot of Fans converged outside Camp Nou pleading with their captain to rescind his decision.
Messi who initially remained unruffled skipped the training sessions under the supervision of the new coach Koeman as he no longer considered himself as a Barca player.
But fortune once again at the Camp nou as Messi finally abandoned his dream of playing with a different Jersey. Leo Messi was captured by Barcelona’s media team in the training sessions today.
